Hi Folks,
Tomorrow is the first official day back at school for students here on the island. I know in many places around the country, many teachers are online with their kids again, and have been for the past week.
Finding tools to help with mental and physical health are of the upmost importance at this time. If you’re teaching online, I’ve included a list of videos you can use for yourself to discover, use with your students, or work through with your own children at home.
I would recommend reviewing the videos first and see if the resources suit you/your students’ needs. I am not affiliated with any of the creators of these videos, however have found them to be useful in the past in my own classroom. Many of you may already have Cosmic Kids as your child’s fan favourite!
The videos are intended to provide a little more self-awareness, regulation and tools for ease. To close, I just wanted to leave us with this gentle reminder as we interact with our kids:
Children will teach you to smile, laugh and to play daily. If we take it all too seriously, we forget why we’re all here in the first place.
Children will teach you about what is good and right in the world.
Children will teach you to be present, and enjoy the moment for what it is.
Children will teach you the beauty of patience, and just how the magical process of nature unfolds- watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly- and watching a child discover their own potential is the most beautiful thing.
Children will teach you to breathe, pause and reflect.
Children will teach you to raise your words not your voice (Rumi)
Children will teach you the importance of having a supportive family, supportive adult- everyone needs that one cheerleader in order to succeed.
Children will teach you it really has nothing to do with the books, but everything to do with focusing in what’s on the inside.
